The Havre de Bernières proposes activities in a restful and relaxing setting (green fun-dose rating). The pitches are well spaced-out and a high proportion of the mobile homes are new.
Near the beaches where the D-Day landings took pace on 6th June 1944, you'll discover places oozing with history, including the famous Omaha Beach, Utah Beach and Juno Beach. The Caen Memorial 20km away is a tourist attraction and one of Normandy’s must-visit cultural sites. It overlooks 35 hectares of grounds, including the American, Canadian and British gardens that pay tribute to the soldiers lost at war. Watersports rule in Calvados, be it sandyachting, paddleboarding, sailing, kitesurfing or canoeing. This is also a vast playground for cycling and mountain biking enthusiasts, as well as hikers. Nearby, you can , visit Bayeux with its picturesque half-timbered houses and narrow streets, or Arromanches, where you can admire the remains of a makeshift harbour which was installed during the war. Foodies can sample Asnelles oysters washed down with a glass of vintage Calvados from the Groult distillery.
